Fidencio’s case is another example of the injustices committed against defenders of land and life, who confront megaprojects endorsed by the Mexican state, where transnational companies are always at the forefront.
The last legal recourse available, this appeal now sits before Magistrate Luz Elba de la Torre Orozco of the Third Collegial Tribunal of Penal and Administrative Matters for the Fifth Circuit of the State of Sonora. The tribunal’s ruling is expected to be made at any moment.

This week we celebrate and show our solidarity with land defenders and victims of state repression across the globe. For a world without capitalism, states, or prisons.
We wanted to share a quick update on what we’ve been up to, as well as provide some information on the current situation in Fidencio’s community of Loma de Bácum.
