Fidencio Aldama’s Conviction Upheld, New Sentence Ordered.
My name is Fidencio Aldama Pérez. I am part of the Yaqui tribe. I was taught to respect other people, without forgetting something very important: THE STRUGGLE FOR OUR TERRITORY.

Fidencio’s case is another example of the injustices committed against defenders of land and life, who confront megaprojects endorsed by the Mexican state, where transnational companies are always at the forefront.
The last legal recourse available, this appeal now sits before Magistrate Luz Elba de la Torre Orozco of the Third Collegial Tribunal of Penal and Administrative Matters for the Fifth Circuit of the State of Sonora. The tribunal’s ruling is expected to be made at any moment.
Call out for a week of solidarity with the Yaqui Tribe of Loma de Bácum, for those disappeared to be returned alive, and for the freedom of Fidencio Aldama.
Traditional authorities of Loma de Bácum, opposed to the gas pipeline, were left out of the event in which Obrador apologized to the Yaqui Tribe.
